Atmosphere is a progressive weather website built with emphasis on speed, accessibility, and compatibility. Atmosphere uses data from Dark Sky, Google Geocode, and FreeGeoIP.net in order to serve you a highly accurate and aesthetically pleasing weather forecast for anywhere in the world, from Mt. Everest to the Sea of Galilee, with a page load of about 10 kilobytes.
Atmosphere processes everything server-side, meaning that the user receives what is required; nothing more, nothing less. Condition icons are served as scalable vector graphics, a newer image standard that’s perfect for icons. This makes for load times that would’ve been impossible with normal bitmap images.
To try Atmosphere yourself, check out the live example above. This project is open source. Check it out on Github.
